MICROFILM

The Main Library has a microfilm collection of the Ogden Standard-Examiner (and predecessor newspapers) from 1870 to the present, and the New York Times from 1851-2015.  A digital microfilm reader is available to view and create scans from the images or to print copies.

Newspaperarchive.com has the digitized issues of the Ogden Standard-Examiner and predecessor papers from 1879 to 1977. Selected other Utah historical newspapers are also available.

Articles and obituaries published in the Ogden Standard-Examiner  and most other Utah newspapers from 2005 to present may be searched through Utah Newsearch, a digital service of the Utah Press Association.

UTAH DIGITAL NEWSPAPERS

The University of Utah provides access to over six million pages from more than 300 historical Utah newspapers. Weber County coverage includes 24 newspapers from Ogden, Roy, North Ogden, and Ogden Valley.  The oldest issues start in 1870.  The Ogden Standard-Examiner has issues (with gaps) from 1920 - 2002.

This resource provides access to articles, obituaries, editorials and other content in over 1,400 international, national and regional publications including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post,  the Chicago Tribune.  Utah coverages includes the Deseret News (2003-2019), Salt Lake Tribune (1991-present), and the St. George Spectrum (2004-present).

The site provides images of the front pages of over 600 major daily newspapers, with links to the sites. It is part of Newseum, which informs and educates on the first amendment and freedom of the press.
