Trampoline
By: Kennedy Plant
Jumping on the springy black surface and inhaling
The scent of rubber and grass led to
Bad jokes and messy makeout sessions
More sunscreen and serotonin and
Whoosh
I’m falling for you
I wish summer always felt like this
Dogs barking, kids playing, taking naps in the rain
And snuggling my head in the
Crook of your neck during a scary movie
You smell like the sun, deodorant, and cheap cologne
Ghost in the graveyard with friends and dancing in the street
Another high school crush that won’t last, but I don’t care
‘Cause I’m drawing in the scent of chlorine
And wishing I was in your backyard, jumping on your trampoline
